Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a helpful ripple pushed from the S as pressure slides. Whatever swims in Salt Pond should be near the deeper corner and inflow. The useful hours run night into morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Look for Salt Pond in the Hancock County part of Maine. The surroundings are rolling bush. This is a pocket water of some 6 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Hancock County list holds plenty of bigger water. Head to Sedgwick, 7 miles away, for anything you forgot. Manchester sits 173 miles out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
The basin holds salt water, and for most of the year it is no place to plan a fishing trip. Salt or brackish and tidal: fish the flow, rest at slack, and watch the mud on a falling tide. Anglers passing through do better on the neighbouring fresh waters listed on this page. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Salt Pond responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Expect July near 67°F and January near 21°F on the long-run figures. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early April. Climate averages put the opening at about early April and the closing near mid December. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. That shapes the year on Salt Pond.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It is marked as a salt water body, which rules out most freshwater fish. AB Herrick Memorial Landing provides a boat ramp about 0.9 miles away. Parking is mapped about 130 yards from the bank. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Third Pond sits 2.2 miles off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Salt Pond for certain.
