Patchy cloud over the water after dark, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSW with the barometer flat. Activity on Round Pond should centre on the overhang and the water beneath it. A broad window opens from afternoon into evening. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows.

Night
Round Pond is a Somerset County water, Maine side. Rolling bush runs right down to the water. Roughly 44 acres: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. About 1.0 miles of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Compared with other Maine water on our list, it sits high. The closest town, Greenville, is 8.8 miles away. After that come Sangerville at 26 miles and Dover-Foxcroft at 30 miles. No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Somerset County cover Atlantic salmon, brown trout and smallmouth bass. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. The shape of Round Pond decides where the fish sit.
The warmest month averages 64°F, the coldest about 11°F. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Climate figures give an open season running late April to late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Plan around that when you fish Round Pond.
No access rule appears in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Frypan Pond, 0.9 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Round Pond carry more weight than any list.
