Solid cloud cover today, with calm air over the water with a softening glass. The water to cover at Snake Lake is inflow corners and shaded margins. The strongest window runs from night into morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Night
Snake Lake is one of the Vermilion Parish waters in Louisiana. Salt water lies 18 miles off. Roughly 239 acres: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The whole outline is near 2.3 miles, and most of it is walkable. Supplies mean a trip to Gueydan, 13 miles off. Lafayette is the closest city, 45 miles away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Flats either side fish on the drop as bait is pushed off them. Tide runs this water, so time the session to the flow. Species logged nearby in open biodiversity records include blue catfish, threadfin shad and yellow bass. The list reflects reported sightings and surveys rather than what is stocked. On Snake Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The seasonal spread runs 51°F to 82°F. Warm water year-round keeps fish moving through every month. October and November give a second good stretch as it cools. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. Plan any trip to Snake Lake around it. Cool nights slow the mornings but sharpen the evenings.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Should this one be busy, Devils Lake is 1.2 miles off. The position on Snake Lake is worth confirming on the day.
