Overcast skies today, with the water lying quiet and no real change in pressure. Whatever swims in Blind Lagoon should be near the edges of the current. The forecast backs the stretch from night into morning. Ride the conditions while they last. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Out in Orleans Parish, Louisiana, sits Blind Lagoon. Everything around it is warm bottomland. At 1,357 acres this is proper open water rather than a pond. Some 7.7 miles of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. Meraux sits 10 miles from here and is the nearest stop. For a city, New Orleans is 14 miles off. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. The tide is the timetable on this water; two hours either side of the change usually fish hardest. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Records collected within a few miles name flathead grey mullet, bantam sunfish and bluegill. Reported species tell you what lives around here, nothing more. The shape of Blind Lagoon rewards a slow walk along one bank.
The seasonal spread runs 52°F to 82°F. Year-round warmth means year-round fishing, with early starts in summer. October and November give a second good stretch as it cools. The hot months push the fishing to dawn and dusk. On Blind Lagoon the same rules apply, with local timing. Falling water concentrates fish into the deeper parts.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bluegill and other panfish take small jigs or worms under a float near any cover. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Brothers Bayou, 2.6 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Blind Lagoon carry more weight than any list.
