Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a faint S drift and pressure sitting still. Give structure within a cast of the bank the first hour at L and N Lake. Block out the hours from afternoon into evening. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for L and N Lake in Oldham County, Kentucky. The country here is rolling hill. It covers about 16 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. La Grange is the closest town at 0.6 miles. The big place round here is Louisville, 24 miles distant. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. The old creek line under the surface is the feature worth finding. A reservoir gives you a hard edge, a shelf, and not much else. Species logged across Oldham County include fantail darter, longear sunfish, rainbow darter, bluegill and white sucker. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On L and N Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 76°F, while January sits near 30°F. The swings are modest, so patterns change slowly. Cover comes and goes, so treat it with suspicion rather than trust. April and May are the settled weeks, with October close behind. The season on L and N Lake rarely departs from it.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. A launch point is recorded some half a mile off. There is a car park half a mile from the bank. Mapping shows a jetty some half a mile off. Bluegill and other panfish take small jigs or worms under a float near any cover. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. The nearest alternative is Crystal Lake, 0.6 miles out. For L and N Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
