Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with dead-still conditions with pressure climbing. Activity on I-280 Lake should centre on windblown banks where food collects. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Night
Look for I-280 Lake in the Scott County part of Iowa. The water sits 689 feet up. Around 54 acres of surface means several distinct areas to work. The edge runs 3.0 miles or so, easy to work in an afternoon. It is the biggest water on our Scott County list. The closest town, Blue Grass, is 4.7 miles away. Beyond it, Buffalo at 5.1 miles and Davenport at 5.2 miles. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. The arms fish better than the open middle whenever the water is up. Look for where the old bank line still shows under the surface. Reported across Scott County: largemouth bass, channel catfish, gizzard shad and bluegill. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Anyone new to this water should walk it once before setting up.
Expect July to average close to 74°F, with January the cold end at about 20°F. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Break-up comes around late March, and the run that follows is short and strong. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late March until roughly mid December. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. That shapes the year on this water.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. There is a mapped slipway roughly half a mile away. Parking is close: a car park sits half a mile from the bank. Fishing from a pier is possible 140 yards away. There is a toilet block some half a mile out. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Northeast Lake, 0.4 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at this water may have changed since it was mapped.
