Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a stiffish breeze from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Rock Run should fish best around the softer water off the main flow today. Set the alarm around the morning. Let the water tell you when to move. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

You will find Rock Run in Wabash County, Indiana. Around the bank it is lake country bush. The nearest place of any size is Mount Vernon, 2.3 miles away. Further out sit Converse (5.7 miles) and Sweetser (7.9 miles). If this one is busy: Goose Creek about 1.3 miles, Mississinewa Lake after 1.9 miles, Red Bridge Marina about 2.2 miles, Lake Niconzah after 3 miles and Spot 10 about 4 miles. The county edge is within a short distance of the bank.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Flow decides everything here: read the seams before you cast. Where two currents meet, work the crease between them. Across Wabash County, recorded fish include smallmouth bass, johnny darter and longear sunfish. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Rock Run the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Between January at about 24°F and July at about 73°F, the water has a wide range to work through. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Winter slows the flow and edges it with ice; the open runs keep fishing where the current holds. On average, mid March opens the water and late December closes it again. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Plan around that when you fish Rock Run.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. The car has to stay half a mile away, which shapes how much tackle you bring. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. The nearest alternative is Goose Creek, 1.3 miles out. Confirm before you fish Rock Run.
