• Where to Fish on Mirror Lake

Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. County-wide records name bluegill, rainbow darter, johnny darter, largemouth bass and blackside darter. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Read Mirror Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.

• Seasonal Patterns

Average temperature peaks around 72°F in July and bottoms out near 22°F in January. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. After late March the shallows warm and the fish move up. Break-up sits around late March on average, with the water closing again about mid December. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. That is the shape of the year on Mirror Lake.

• Tackle & Baits

Access is not recorded for this water. You will be walking about half a mile from the nearest car park. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. If the gate is shut, Pond Lil at 2.4 miles is the nearest alternative. Nothing here settles the position at Mirror Lake for certain.
