Soft grey light all day today, with an easy breeze from the ENE and pressure easing off. Whatever swims in Tomahawk Slough should be near slack behind obstructions. Plan around the stretch from afternoon into evening. Keep moving until you find them. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Night
Tomahawk Slough lies in DuPage County, Illinois. It sits at 689 feet above sea level. At roughly 21 acres, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Burr Ridge sits 3.2 miles from here and is the nearest stop. For a city, Naperville is 14 miles off. This one sits near enough to a boundary to be worth checking. The name is unique in the state, so there is no confusion.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Species logged across DuPage County include bluegill, green sunfish, common carp, white sucker and largemouth bass. The county list is broader than any single water. The shape of Tomahawk Slough decides where the fish sit.
Climate normals give 74°F for July and 22°F for January. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around mid March. Break-up sits around mid March on average, with the water closing again about mid December. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Expect Tomahawk Slough to follow that timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Parking is close: a car park sits half a mile from the bank. Mapping shows a jetty some half a mile off. A rest area sits about half a mile from the water. A toilet block sits half a mile away. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Failing this one, try Bull Frog Lake, 0.3 miles away. Nothing on Tomahawk Slough should be assumed from this page alone.
