Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with a kind WSW breeze on the water with the barometer flat. Start the search at Nashville Reservoir along shelves near deep water. A broad window opens from night into morning. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

This water sits in Washington County, Illinois. The setting is rolling hill on every side. This is a pocket water of some 6 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Washington County. The town to know is Nashville, 0.7 miles out. Then Okawville, 12 miles, and Wamac, 17 miles. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Inflow corners move water, and moving water gathers fish. Look for where the old bank line still shows under the surface. Washington County records list green sunfish, bluegill, black bullhead and slough darter among the fish reported. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Nashville Reservoir fishes better once you know its edges.
On the long-term average, July reads 78°F and January reads 29°F. A lid forms in a hard winter only. In milder years the edges alone go, and the middle never sets. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. On Nashville Reservoir the same rules apply, with local timing.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Recorded parking is half a mile off, far enough to travel light. For the catfish, fish bottom baits into the deeper holes and let them sit. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Failing this one, try Nashville City Reservoir, 0.4 miles away. None of that is settled for Nashville Reservoir in what we hold.
