Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with air barely moving and no real change in pressure. Give the shaded margin through bright spells the first hour at Marsh Lake. The useful hours run night into morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Marsh Lake is set in Stark County, Illinois. It lies 751 feet above sea level. About 6 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. For supplies, Wyoming is 7.5 miles out. After that come Toulon at 8.9 miles and Kewanee at 12 miles. The boundary is close enough to be worth checking before you fish. It rewards a look round before the first cast.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Inflow corners move water, and moving water gathers fish. Look for where the old bank line still shows under the surface. County-wide records name johnny darter, orangethroat darter, smallmouth bass and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Marsh Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
Long-term averages put July at about 74°F and January near 20°F. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Once it clears, about mid March, the fishing comes on quickly. Ice clears near mid March and comes back about mid December in a typical year. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Marsh Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Bradford State Habitat Area takes in this water; protected-area rules will apply. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Allendale Conservation Club Lake sits 2.9 miles off and takes the overflow. None of that is settled for Marsh Lake in what we hold.
