Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with mild air moving in from the W as pressure slides. Expect most activity at Washington Lake around the shallows early and the drop later. Plan around the stretch from morning through afternoon. Keep moving until you find them. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Washington Lake falls in Blaine County, part of Idaho. The surface lies 10,354 feet up. At 6 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Blaine County. The closest town, Sun Valley, is 12 miles away. For a city, Boise is 104 miles off. No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Blaine County cover rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, Arctic grayling, sockeye salmon and brook trout. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. The near bank of Washington Lake is often the one people ignore.
Long-term averages put July at about 51°F and December near 16°F. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Count the season from break-up, usually early June. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early June and starts locking again about early November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. That shapes the year on Washington Lake.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Boulder Lake sits 0.7 miles off and takes the overflow. Ask locally about Washington Lake if anything is unclear.
