An even grey lid over the water, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface with pressure climbing. Twin Lakes should fish best around structure within a cast of the bank today. Block out the hours from the day. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Twin Lakes sits within Adams County in Idaho. The bank gives way to pine and birch. The water covers some 41 acres, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. 14 miles away sits McCall, the nearest town. Further out sit Joseph (54 miles) and Grangeville (57 miles). Within a short drive: Corral Lake at 1.2 miles, Duck Lake just 1.6 miles, Goose Lake at 1.7 miles, Hidden Lake just 3.6 miles and Frog Lake at 4 miles. No border sits close enough to matter.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Open biodiversity records for Adams County list rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and Coho salmon. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Twin Lakes gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Expect July near 55°F and December near 21°F on the long-run figures. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Twin Lakes runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Should this one be busy, Corral Lake is 1.2 miles off. What applies at Twin Lakes may have changed since it was mapped.
