Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a firm WSW blow and pressure ticking upward. Whatever swims in Skyland Lake should be near the seam between weed and open water. The day peaks in the evening. Take the steady approach over the searching one. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Within Clearwater County, Idaho, you have Skyland Lake. Rolling bush runs right down to the water. It covers about 13 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. The nearest place of any size is Osburn, 44 miles away. Beyond it, Thompson Falls at 45 miles and Plains at 47 miles. No boundary runs near, so the county rules hold throughout.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Clearwater County include rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, Chinook salmon, Arctic grayling and brook trout. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Treat Skyland Lake as a water to read rather than to cover.
Expect August to average close to 58°F, with January the cold end at about 22°F. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly mid April. Averages place the thaw at mid April and the freeze at late November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Skyland Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Failing this one, try Fawn Lake, 1 mile away. Check the current arrangement for Skyland Lake.
