Solid cloud cover today, with a light SE breeze and a falling glass. McNeels Lake should fish best around reed fringes and open pockets today. The strongest window is the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for McNeels Lake in Cobb County, Georgia. Height above sea level is 1,030 feet. About 9 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Georgia listings. Start from Fair Oaks, 3.7 miles down the road. Sandy Springs is the closest city, 13 miles away. It sits near the edge of the county, so check which rules apply.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. Inflow corners move water, and moving water gathers fish. Records collected within a few miles name blackbanded darter, bluegill, redbreast sunfish and green sunfish. Take it as evidence of what swims here, not a promise for one session. McNeels Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
On the long-term average, July reads 78°F and January reads 41°F. Long warm spells define the calendar more than any cold. Heat pushes fish deep from June onwards, so start early. The hot months push the fishing to dawn and dusk. On McNeels Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Expect a half a mile walk in from where the car goes. There are picnic tables recorded roughly half a mile off. Catfish want bait on the bottom: cut bait or worms, a simple running rig, and patience after dark. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Reeves Lake, 1.6 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position on McNeels Lake before loading the car.
