Overcast skies today, with a gentle ripple from the NNW and pressure on the rise. Fish at Mceacherns Lake should hold close to the weed line and any gaps in it. The day fishes best from night into morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Mceacherns Lake is one of the Bibb County waters in Georgia. The bank is 492 feet above sea level. Surface area runs to about 4 acres — small enough to read in one session. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Bibb County. West Point sits 8 miles from here and is the nearest stop. Forsyth is 11 miles away, with Macon at 13 miles. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The old creek line under the surface is the feature worth finding. Look for where the old bank line still shows under the surface. Fish reported in the area, according to open records, include common carp, bluegill, redbreast sunfish, christmas darter and mud darter. Records show what people reported, not what is stocked. On Mceacherns Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
On the long-term average, July reads 80°F and January reads 45°F. Winter is the comfortable season here rather than the difficult one. Heat pushes fish deep from June onwards, so start early. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. Mceacherns Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. For the catfish, fish bottom baits into the deeper holes and let them sit. A phone call first saves an afternoon. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Should this one be busy, Clay Lake North is 2.2 miles off. None of that is settled for Mceacherns Lake in what we hold.
