Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a whisper of wind from the SE and pressure going nowhere. Fort Gordon Reservoir should fish best around points and the old channel edges today. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Richmond County, Georgia, is where Fort Gordon Reservoir sits. The surface lies 269 feet up. Surface area is around 98 acres, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The edge runs 2.2 miles or so, easy to work in an afternoon. It is the biggest water on our Richmond County list. The nearest place of any size is Grovetown, 5.6 miles away. Martinez lies 6.2 miles off, Evans another 7.2 miles. This one sits near enough to a boundary to be worth checking.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. Held water runs deepest at the wall and shallows back to the inflow. Documented catches and surveys in the area cover savannah darter, bluegill, dollar sunfish and largemouth bass. Reporting is uneven, so absence from the list means little. On Fort Gordon Reservoir the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
The warm month here averages 81°F; the cold one sits at 44°F. Heat sets the pattern from late spring onward. March through May is the strongest run, with autumn a second stretch. November and March are the quiet, comfortable months to be out. Fort Gordon Reservoir runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Expect a half a mile walk in from where the car goes. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Boardmans Pond, 0.7 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Fort Gordon Reservoir as something to verify.
