A still, cloudless night on the water, with mild air moving in from the NE and pressure going nowhere. Whatever swims in Evans Lake should be near the calm side of the wind. The useful hours run the day. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Night
The Jefferson County end of Georgia holds Evans Lake. It sits in open plain. At 11 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. The closest town, Wadley, is 3 miles away. The big place round here is Savannah, 92 miles distant. If this one is busy: Easterlin Lake within 2 miles, 3.1 miles out stands Beegles Pond, Battle Pond within 3.9 miles, 4 miles out stands Gambrell Lake and Weeks Lake within 4.7 miles. This one sits near enough to a boundary to be worth checking.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Held water runs deepest at the wall and shallows back to the inflow. The arms fish better than the open middle whenever the water is up. Documented catches and surveys in the area cover golden shiner and scaly sand darter. Presence in the area does not guarantee a fish on the day. At Evans Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Climate normals give 81°F for July and 46°F for January. No part of the year shuts this water. March through May is the strongest run, with autumn a second stretch. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. That is the shape of the year on Evans Lake. Autumn feeding runs harder as the light drops away.
We hold no note on access for this one. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Easterlin Lake at 2 miles is the sensible second choice. Check the position on Evans Lake before loading the car.
