A still, misty day over the water, with an easy breeze from the SW and the barometer heading up. The fish at Belmar Lake are likely to sit near reed fringes and open pockets. A broad window opens from the day. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Terrell County, Georgia, is where Belmar Lake sits. The country here is open plain. At 14 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. The town to know is Dawson, 1.6 miles out. Columbus sits 55 miles out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Others close at hand: Kennedy Lake (1.2 miles), 2.2 miles away is Smith Lake, Boyd Lake (2.8 miles), 2.9 miles away is Dawson Sewage Pond and McCledon Lake (4.8 miles). This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. The old creek line under the surface is the feature worth finding. The arms fish better than the open middle whenever the water is up. Public wildlife records from this area list blackbanded darter, redbreast sunfish and redfin pickerel. Check the state or provincial list before planning around one species. On Belmar Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Average temperature peaks around 81°F in July and bottoms out near 47°F in January. Fish stay active all year, but they move with the heat. Heat pushes fish deep from June onwards, so start early. June to September is hot work, so the first and last hours are what count. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Belmar Lake.
We hold no note on access for this one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Failing this one, try Kennedy Lake, 1.2 miles away. None of that is settled for Belmar Lake in what we hold.
