Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a faint SSW drift with a settled glass. Most of the action on Porter Lake should come off the calm side of the wind. The day fishes best from night into morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Set in Washington County, Porter Lake is a Florida water. Tidal water begins 13 miles from here. At 925 acres this is proper open water rather than a pond. Some 7.6 miles of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. Of the waters listed here in Washington County, this is the largest. Youngstown lies 11 miles from the water. Then Chipley, 19 miles, and Lynn Haven, 19 miles. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Species logged nearby in open biodiversity records include bluegill, redbreast sunfish, spotted sunfish, redear sunfish and blackbanded darter. Reported species tell you what lives around here, nothing more. Take Porter Lake a stretch at a time.
The range across the year is 50°F to 81°F. Wet and dry spells shape the year more than temperature. Heat pushes fish deep from June onwards, so start early. April and May are the settled weeks, with October close behind. Porter Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out. Short days concentrate it into a narrow window.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Spring Pond at 2.2 miles is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Porter Lake in what we hold.
