No cloud to trap the day's warmth tonight, with mild air moving in from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Philips Inlet should hold close to channel edges and moving water. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

The Walton County entry here is Philips Inlet, in Florida. The land about it is warm green lowland. At some 657 acres it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. It is the biggest water on our Walton County list. Laguna Beach lies 4.3 miles from the water. Tallahassee is the closest city, 103 miles away. A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Salt or brackish and tidal: fish the flow, rest at slack, and watch the mud on a falling tide. Tide runs this water, so time the session to the flow. Slack water is dead water on a place like this. Open occurrence data for the surrounding area lists yellow bullhead, pinfish, Florida pompano and red drum. Records come from public data, not from a stocking programme. On Philips Inlet the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 81°F, while January sits near 51°F. The water stays warm and open throughout. October and November give a second good stretch as it cools. The cooler months are the comfortable ones to fish here. Plan any trip to Philips Inlet around it.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. A ramp is mapped within half a mile. A parking area is marked roughly half a mile out. There is a jetty half a mile off, worth knowing on a busy day. Catfish want bait on the bottom: cut bait or worms, a simple running rig, and patience after dark. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Failing this one, try Deer Lake, 6 miles away. Ask locally about Philips Inlet if anything is unclear.
