A grey, even sky over the water, with a kind SSW breeze on the water and pressure easing off. Activity on Moore Pond should centre on the deeper corner and inflow. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Moore Pond sits in Leon County, out in Florida. It lies 148 feet above sea level. With some 48 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The bank runs about 1.0 miles all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. It sits higher than most water we list in Florida. Tallahassee is the closest place, 8 miles off. For a city, Tallahassee is 8.1 miles off. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Documented catches and surveys in the area cover bluegill, largemouth bass, redbreast sunfish and blackbanded darter. Presence in the area does not guarantee a fish on the day. Fish Moore Pond to its features, not to its size.
July runs about 81°F on average, January about 51°F. Fish feed through every month here. October and November give a second good stretch as it cools. Spring and autumn carry the year; summer squeezes it into the ends of the day. The season on Moore Pond follows the weather closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Expect a half a mile walk in from where the car goes. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Holley Pond sits 1.6 miles off and takes the overflow. Nothing on Moore Pond should be assumed from this page alone.
