A crisp, open sky after dark, with steady pressure of wind from the NE and pressure leaking away. On Lake Silver, work bays that hold the day's warmth first. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lake Silver is a Hillsborough County water, Florida side. The coast is 6.2 miles away. About 16 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Florida listings. Some 0.9 miles away sits Egypt Lake-Leto, the nearest settlement. Carrollwood follows at 1.9 miles, then Carrollwood Village at 3.5 miles. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Documented catches and surveys in the area cover flathead grey mullet, blue tilapia and blackchin tilapia. Local agencies hold the definitive list for this water. At Lake Silver light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Seasonal averages run from 60°F in January up to 82°F in July. There is no cold season worth the name. The cooler months are the comfortable ones to be out. April and May are the settled weeks, with October close behind. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lake Silver. Sudden cold puts fish down faster than sustained cold does.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Parking sits half a mile out, which makes for a walk with tackle. This lies within protected land, so the rules will be stricter than usual. Barramundi and estuary fish want hard-bodied lures and soft plastics worked around snags and drains. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Twin Lake sits 0.7 miles off and takes the overflow. Nothing on Lake Silver should be assumed from this page alone.
