Solid cloud cover today, with mild air moving in from the SSW with a softening glass. The fish at Lake Lonnie are likely to sit near the shaded margin through bright spells. The numbers single out the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Leon County in Florida is where Lake Lonnie sits. Tidal water begins 34 miles from here. Small at around 10 acres: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is high ground by Florida standards. Monticello at 10 miles is the nearest place to stop. Thomasville is 17 miles away, with Tallahassee at 19 miles. Two sets of local rules meet not far from this water.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. Look for where the old bank line still shows under the surface. Biodiversity records within roughly six miles include chain pickerel, Florida gar, black crappie and bluegill. Records show what people reported, not what is stocked. On Lake Lonnie the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Temperature averages peak at 81°F in July and bottom out at 50°F in January. Cold never shuts this water down; heat is the only limit. Season rules are a separate question. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer squeezes it into the edges of the day. June to September is hot work, so the first and last hours are what count. The season on Lake Lonnie rarely departs from it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. You will be walking about half a mile from the nearest car park. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Old Pond sits 0.2 miles off and takes the overflow. For Lake Lonnie in particular, ask before you travel.
