Stars out and no cloud tonight, with a decent NE wind working the banks and a rising glass. Give inflow corners and shaded margins the first hour at Lake Ellen. The strongest window runs from night into morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Seminole County, Florida, is where Lake Ellen sits. It sits 31 miles in from the sea. It covers about 5 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Our Seminole County list holds plenty of bigger water. The closest town, Casselberry, is 0.6 miles distant. Longwood is 1.8 miles away, with Altamonte Springs at 2 miles. You are close to a county edge here; who manages the access can change within a short drive.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Documented catches and surveys in the area cover swamp darter, bluegill and warmouth. Reporting is uneven, so absence from the list means little. Anyone new to Lake Ellen should walk it once before setting up.
Averages move between 59°F in January and 82°F in July. Heat, not cold, shapes the year here. Heat pushes fish deep from June onwards, so start early. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. That is the shape of the year on Lake Ellen. Barometric swings often matter more than the calendar.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Mapping shows a ramp about half a mile from the shore. You can leave the car about half a mile from the water. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lake Griffin sits 0.2 miles off and takes the overflow. None of that is settled for Lake Ellen in what we hold.
