Lake Desire in Lake County: How and When to Fish It

• Overview

This water sits in Lake County, Florida. The land about it is warm green lowland. The water covers some 50 acres, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The nearest place of any size is Mascotte, 3.7 miles away. For a city, Orlando is 29 miles off. If this one is busy: Lake Spencer 0.5 miles off, 0.6 miles away is Lake Emma, Lake Arthur 0.8 miles off, 1.1 miles away is Indianhouse Lake and Lake Lucy 1.1 miles off. Rules here are straightforward: one county, one set of rules.

• Where to Fish on Lake Desire

Our records hold no depth for this water. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Biodiversity records within roughly six miles include largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, warmouth and Florida gar. Records come from public data, not from a stocking programme. At Lake Desire the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.

• Seasonal Patterns

On the long-term average, July reads 82°F and January reads 59°F. The year runs unbroken and warm. Shade and hour of day matter more than month. June to September is hot work, so the first and last hours are what count. That shapes the year on Lake Desire. The hour either side of first light is rarely wasted.

• Tackle & Baits

Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. If the gate is shut, Lake Spencer at 0.5 miles is the nearest alternative. Nothing on Lake Desire should be assumed from this page alone.
