Hidden Lake in Orange County: How and When to Fish It

• Overview

Hidden Lake lies in Orange County, in Florida. It lies 121 feet above sea level. At 16 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Horizon West sits 5.5 miles from the bank. Four Corners is 6.7 miles away, with Citrus Ridge at 6.8 miles. The county line runs close by, so rules can change within a short drive.

• Where to Fish on Hidden Lake

Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Fish reported in the area, according to open records, include dollar sunfish, bluegill, largemouth bass and warmouth. Check the state or provincial list before planning around one species. At Hidden Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.

• Seasonal Patterns

Between January at about 59°F and July at about 82°F, the water has a wide range to work through. Warm water year-round keeps fish moving through every month. Shade and hour of day matter more than month. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. Anyone fishing Hidden Lake regularly works to that calendar.

• Tackle & Baits

Access is not recorded for this water. Parking is not close: half a mile from the bank, and no nearer option is mapped. Alice Lockmiller Parcel takes in this water; protected-area rules will apply. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. The nearest alternative is Keene Lake, 0.5 miles out. Rules at Hidden Lake are worth checking on the day.
