Thin cloud passing over the water tonight, with a stiffish breeze from the NE with the glass slipping lower. Whatever swims in Clark Lake should be near structure within a cast of the bank. Expect the better fishing from the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Clark Lake is one of the Polk County waters in Florida. Salt water lies 27 miles off. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Florida listings. You are 1.7 miles from Lakeland Highlands. Medulla follows at 2 miles, then Fuller Heights at 2.9 miles. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Records collected within a few miles name Alligator gar, bluegill, black crappie and Florida gar. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. At Clark Lake the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Averages move between 61°F in January and 82°F in August. The year runs unbroken and warm. The first and last hours carry the summer; the middle is slow. The hot months push the fishing to dawn and dusk. The season on Clark Lake rarely departs from it. The week either side of a change of season often fishes hardest.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Parking sits half a mile out, which makes for a walk with tackle. For the panfish, a small hook, a float and a piece of worm outfish everything fancy. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Should this one be busy, Six Pound Pond is 0.7 miles off. Confirm before you fish Clark Lake.
