No cloud to trap the day's warmth tonight, with hardly a ripple anywhere and pressure sitting still. On Red Mill Pond, work edges and weed gaps first. The day fishes best from afternoon into evening. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

This water sits in Sussex County, Delaware. Rolling hill runs right down to the water. Around 192 acres of surface means several distinct areas to work. It is the biggest water on our Sussex County list. Head to Nassau, 1.4 miles away, for anything you forgot. Lewes lies 4.3 miles off, Milton another 5.5 miles. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Built water gives depth close in, which suits a bank angler. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. Sussex County records list American eel, white perch and bluegill among the fish reported. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. The near bank of Red Mill Pond is often the one people ignore.
Average temperature peaks around 76°F in July and bottoms out near 35°F in January. Spring and autumn are the strongest, but nothing is truly closed. In a normal year the cover is thin and short-lived. The hot months push the fishing to dawn and dusk. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Red Mill Pond.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Recorded parking is 0.9 miles off, far enough to travel light. Mapping shows a jetty some half a mile off. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Goslee Mill Pond, 2.5 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position on Red Mill Pond before loading the car.
