Stars out and no cloud tonight, with a light chop building from the NNE with a firming glass. Fish at Reservoir Number 3 should hold close to shallow cover and weed edges. The day fishes best from morning through afternoon. Pick two or three spots and rotate them. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Reservoir Number 3 lies in Naugatuck Valley Planning Region, in Connecticut. The bank is 456 feet above sea level. It covers about 13 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Supplies mean a trip to Oxford, 1.6 miles off. After that come Naugatuck at 3.5 miles and Seymour at 3.5 miles. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Built water gives depth close in, which suits a bank angler. A reservoir gives you a hard edge, a shelf, and not much else. County-wide records name bluegill, white sucker, pumpkinseed, yellow perch and largemouth bass. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On this water that means starting tight and working out.
Climate normals give 71°F for July and 26°F for January. Neither winter nor summer shuts things down for long. It should never be assumed safe, whatever the month says. The hot months push the fishing to dawn and dusk. Plan around that when you fish this water. Rain lifts the level and moves fish about.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Public data has parking about half a mile from the shore. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Failing this one, try Reservoir Number 2, 0.4 miles away. Check the current arrangement for this water.
