Clear overhead with good moonlight, with a gentle ripple from the NNE as pressure builds. Expect most activity at Middle Pond around the overhang and the water beneath it. A broad window opens from afternoon into evening. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Set in Naugatuck Valley Planning Region, Middle Pond is a Connecticut water. Tidal water begins 27 miles from here. For supplies, Terryville is 0.6 miles out. The nearest city of size is Waterbury, an 8.7 miles drive. Round about: Upper Pond within 0.2 miles, Zeiner Pond about 0.4 miles, Terryville Reservoir Number 2 within 0.8 miles, Bristol Reservoir Number Three (not official) about 1.4 miles and Masterbone Pond within 1.4 miles. Two sets of local rules meet not far from this water.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Look for where the old bank line still shows under the surface. The old creek line under the surface is the feature worth finding. County-wide records name bluegill, white sucker, pumpkinseed and yellow perch. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Middle Pond responds to conditions more than to tactics.
The seasonal spread runs 24°F to 71°F. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late March. Expect the water usable from around late March until roughly late December. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Expect Middle Pond to follow that timing.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. A car park sits roughly half a mile away. Lake Winfield Recreation Area takes in this water; protected-area rules will apply. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Upper Pond, 0.2 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Middle Pond in what we hold.
