Night
Set in Northwest Hills Planning Region, Connecticut, this is Lakeville Reservoir Number 2. Land around it is rolling bush. This is a pocket water of some 11 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Connecticut listings. Canaan lies 8.2 miles from the water. Pine Plains follows at 9.4 miles, then Sheffield at 11 miles. The county edge is within a short distance of the bank.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Draw-down through summer strips the margins, so follow the water out. Held water runs deepest at the wall and shallows back to the inflow. Survey and observation records for Northwest Hills Planning Region include bluegill, brown trout and largemouth bass. The county list is broader than any single water. On this water a short move beats a long cast.
Expect July near 69°F and January near 22°F on the long-run figures. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early April. Expect the water usable from around early April until roughly mid December. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Expect this water to follow that timing.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Parking is at Yoakum Preserve Parking, some half a mile off. Centennial Watershed State Forest covers ground next to the water; its rules will apply on that side. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. State or provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. For a change of water, Ore Hill Pond is 1.4 miles distant. None of that is settled for this water in what we hold.
