Full sun on the water today, with mild air moving in from the ESE with pressure climbing. On Snowbank Lake, work the shaded margin through bright spells first. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. The cold will pin fish to deeper, stable water.

Colorado holds Snowbank Lake, in Boulder County. Elevation runs to 11,539 feet. This is a pocket water of some 7 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is high ground by Colorado standards. Estes Park lies 11 miles from the water. Boulder is the closest city, 25 miles away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Across Boulder County, recorded fish include black-spotted cutthroat trout, brook trout, brown trout, bluegill and rainbow trout. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Snowbank Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Expect July near 51°F and February near 18°F on the long-run figures. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late May. Averages place the thaw at late May and the freeze at early November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. It holds true on Snowbank Lake more years than not.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Should this one be busy, Lion Lake Number 2 is 0.2 miles off. Treat access at Snowbank Lake as something to verify.
