An even grey lid over the water, with barely a breath of wind and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Langholen Reservoir around rip-rap and rocky transitions. The morning should out-fish the rest of the day. Small adjustments will matter more than big moves. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Night
Langholen Reservoir is set in Grand County, Colorado. Country round the bank runs to rolling bush. At 13 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. The nearest town is Kremmling, 13 miles away. Further out sit Granby (16 miles) and Fraser (19 miles). Rules here are straightforward: one county, one set of rules.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Standing timber shows when the level drops, and fish sit against it. Points where the flooded channel swings in are the reliable ones. Records held for Grand County cover black-spotted cutthroat trout, brook trout, rainbow trout and brown trout. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Langholen Reservoir fishes better once you know its edges.
The warmest month averages 59°F, the coldest about 16°F. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. At Langholen Reservoir the season follows that pattern closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Cole Reservoir, 1.2 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Langholen Reservoir are worth checking on the day.
