Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with air barely moving and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lake Granby should come off inflow corners and shaded margins. Everything points to the morning. Small adjustments will matter more than big moves. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

The Grand County entry here is Lake Granby, in Colorado. It sits at 8,278 feet above sea level. It covers about 11.1 sq miles, which means weather matters as much as tactics. With about 32 miles of shoreline, local advice saves a lot of walking. It is the biggest water on our Grand County list. Start from Granby, 6.8 miles down the road. Beyond it, Fraser at 15 miles and Nederland at 22 miles. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
The basin drops to a measured 221 feet. Points where the flooded channel swings in are the reliable ones. Held water runs deepest at the wall and shallows back to the inflow. Grand County records list black-spotted cutthroat trout, brook trout, rainbow trout and brown trout among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lake Granby the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The year swings from about 15°F in January to roughly 59°F in July. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Ice clears near late April and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. The season on Lake Granby follows the weather closely.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Hankison Reservoir at 3.8 miles is the sensible second choice. For Lake Granby in particular, ask before you travel.
