A wide-open sky and strong sun today, with the surface near flat and a falling glass. Fish at Loch Lomond should hold close to bays that hold the day's warmth. A broad window opens from the day. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Loch Lomond lies in Santa Cruz County, California. The setting is pine and hardwood on every side. At about 172 acres, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The edge covers about 3.4 miles, enough to hold several distinct areas. It is the biggest water on our Santa Cruz County list. Head to Lompico, 0.9 miles away, for anything you forgot. Ben Lomond is 2.1 miles away, with Brookdale at 2.3 miles. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. The arms fish better than the open middle whenever the water is up. Points where the flooded channel swings in are the reliable ones. Open biodiversity records for Santa Cruz County list flathead grey mullet, rainbow trout, bluegill and cabezon. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. The near bank of Loch Lomond is often the one people ignore.
Between December at about 48°F and August at about 67°F, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter here means light layers, not lost months. October and November give a second good stretch as it cools. April and May are the settled weeks, with October close behind. Anyone fishing Loch Lomond regularly works to that calendar.
The access position is unclear from public sources. A slipway is marked about half a mile from here. Parking is close: a car park sits half a mile from the bank. A pier half a mile from here gives a platform over deeper water. Somewhere to sit and eat is half a mile out. Toilets show in mapping about half a mile away. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Spring Lakes is 5 miles off. Treat access at Loch Lomond as something to verify.
