A mixed sky through the night, with dead-still conditions and the barometer heading up. The fish at Telaquana Lake are likely to sit near shallow cover and weed edges. The forecast is against you; the night is the least bad option. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. A raw day: short sessions and precise casts pay.

The Bethel Census Area end of Alaska holds Telaquana Lake. Around the bank it is taiga. Around 17.9 sq miles of open water: conditions change from one end to the other. The shoreline runs to about 30 miles, far more than one trip can cover. It ranks among the bigger water on our Alaska list. For supplies, Nikiski is 89 miles out. Then Kenai, 93 miles, and Kalifornsky, 95 miles. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. County-wide records name sockeye salmon, Chum salmon, Coho salmon, pink salmon and Dolly Varden. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Telaquana Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
Expect July near 55°F and January near 3°F on the long-run figures. Winter owns most of the year at this latitude. Winter locks it down, and mid May brings it back. Ice clears near mid May and comes back about late October in a typical year. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. The season on Telaquana Lake follows the weather closely.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. State or provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. The nearest alternative is Turquoise Lake, 12 miles out. Signs at Telaquana Lake carry more weight than any list.
