Clear overhead with good moonlight, with a helpful ripple pushed from the N as pressure builds. Most of the action on Crystal Lake should come off sheltered bays and points. The best of it runs night into morning. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Bibb County in Alabama is where Crystal Lake sits. The ground round it is pine and hardwood. It measures about 65 acres, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. It is the biggest water on our Bibb County list. West Blocton is the closest place, 6.6 miles off. Tuscaloosa is the closest city, 22 miles away. This one sits near enough to a boundary to be worth checking.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Draw-down through summer strips the margins, so follow the water out. The arms fish better than the open middle whenever the water is up. Documented catches and surveys in the area cover blackbanded darter, cahaba bass, speckled darter, rainbow shiner and tricolor shiner. Presence in the area does not guarantee a fish on the day. Fish Crystal Lake where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Climate normals give 80°F for July and 43°F for January. No part of the year shuts this water. The cooler months are the comfortable ones to be out. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. It sets the rhythm of the year at Crystal Lake.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. State or provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. If the gate is shut, Jones Lake at 3.6 miles is the nearest alternative. Treat Crystal Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
