Heavy overcast holding through the day, with the surface near flat and pressure sitting still. Whatever swims in Loch Stack should be near reed fringes and open pockets. The strongest window runs from afternoon into evening. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Look for Loch Stack in Highland, Scotland. The sea is 4.8 miles distant. At 554 acres this is proper open water rather than a pond. You are looking at roughly 8.8 miles of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. Start from Ullapool, 31 miles down the road. The big place round here is Aberdeen, 132 miles distant. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth figures are not published for this one. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Records held for Highland cover brown trout, Atlantic salmon, European eel and Arctic charr. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Anyone new to Loch Stack should walk it once before setting up.
July runs about 12°C on average, December about 2°C. Spring and autumn are the strongest, but nothing is truly closed. In milder years the edges alone go, and the middle never sets. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. Anyone fishing Loch Stack regularly works to that calendar.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Loch a' Gharbh-bhaid Mor, 3.7 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Loch Stack in what we hold.
