A wet system passing over today, with a mirror surface most of the day and steady pressure. The water to cover at Loch Pattack is sheltered bays and points. A long productive spell runs the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Loch Pattack lies within the bounds of Highland, Scotland. Mixed woodland runs right down to the water. With some 167 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. A shoreline of some 2.4 miles keeps the choices simple. Compared with other Scotland water on our list, it sits high. The closest town, Newtonmore, is 17 miles distant. Further out sit Kingussie (19 miles) and Caol (27 miles). No border sits close enough to matter.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Across Highland, recorded fish include brown trout, Atlantic salmon, European eel and Arctic charr. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Loch Pattack gives up more to patience than to distance.
Long-term averages put July at about 12°C and February near 1°C. Most months fish reasonably, given the right weather. Hard water here is never dependable, so check for yourself before stepping out. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. That is the shape of the year on Loch Pattack.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lochan na h-Earba, 4.5 miles away, makes the obvious fallback.
