A closed sky with even light today, with a kind E breeze on the water with the glass holding level. Most of the action on Loch Fada should come off reed fringes and open pockets. The forecast backs the stretch from the day. Ride the conditions while they last. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Loch Fada in the Argyll and Bute part of Scotland. The setting is rolling hill. At 12 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Isle of Islay lies 4 miles from the water. After that come Tarbert at 28 miles and Ardrishaig at 31 miles. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Fish documented in Argyll and Bute include brown trout, European eel, Atlantic salmon, pollack and Atlantic cod. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Loch Fada the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Temperature averages peak at 14°C in July and bottom out at 5°C in February. The year turns gently, without extremes at either end. Some winters give nothing at all, so plan for open water. June to September is hot work, so the first and last hours are what count. Anyone fishing Loch Fada regularly works to that calendar.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Loch Leathann, 0.3 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Loch Fada if anything is unclear.
