A wet system passing over today, with an easy breeze from the ESE and pressure going nowhere. Activity on Sterlin Lake should centre on points where shallow meets deep. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

You will find Sterlin Lake in Village of Teslin, Yukon. The ground around here is boreal forest. It measures some 1.30 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. Some 6.9 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Yukon listings. Whitehorse sits 122 km from here and is the nearest stop. Anchorage sits 916 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Village of Teslin include Chinook salmon, lake whitefish, Arctic grayling and least cisco. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Sterlin Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Temperature averages peak at 11°C in July and bottom out at -18°C in January. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Break-up comes around late May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Averages place the thaw at late May and the freeze at late October. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. At Sterlin Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Bryde Lake at 8.7 km is the sensible second choice. For Sterlin Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
