Soft grey light all day today, with a whisper of wind from the S with the glass holding level. Pine Lake should fish best around the weed line and any gaps in it today. If you must go, go in the evening. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Bundle up; the fishing will be slow but not impossible.

Pine Lake is one of the Village of Teslin listings for Yukon. The water sits 1,044 metres up. Roughly 22 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. Shoreline comes to about 3.6 km, small enough to learn in a day. Our Village of Teslin list holds plenty of bigger water. The closest town, Watson Lake, is 123 km away. Further out sit Whitehorse (236 km) and Skagway (256 km). The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Records held for Village of Teslin cover Chinook salmon, lake whitefish and Arctic grayling. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Pine Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Climate normals give 12°C for July and -20°C for January. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around mid May. The season between ice runs from about mid May to late October. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Expect Pine Lake to follow that timing.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Goat Lake at 13 km is the sensible second choice. Treat access at Pine Lake as something to verify.
