Dull, settled light over the water, with light air out of the SSE and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Kusawa Lake should hold close to the margins and the shelf beyond them. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. A raw day: short sessions and precise casts pay.

The Yukon entry here is Kusawa Lake, in Yukon. The ground round it is northern bush. At roughly 136.68 sq km it ranks among the larger waters in the region. The bank is deeply indented, so shelter is easy to find in any wind. Of the waters listed here in Yukon, this is the largest. Whitehorse lies 81 km from the water. Skagway is 115 km away, with Haines at 134 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Anyone new to Kusawa Lake should walk it once before setting up. Sunken banks and old ditches show as changes in surface texture.
Typical July readings run about 12°C; by January the average is down near -16°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Winter locks it down, and mid May brings it back. Open water usually runs from mid May until about late October. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Kusawa Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Primrose River, 18 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Kusawa Lake as something to verify.
