Species logged across Haines Junction include Arctic grayling, northern pike, lake trout and Dolly Varden. • Seasonal Patterns

  Long-term averages put July at about 8°C and January near -20°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early June. Climate averages put the opening at about early June and the closing near early October. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. The season on Cache Lake follows the weather closely.

• Tackle & Baits

  The access position is unclear from public sources. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. If the gate is shut, Kluane Lake at 16 km is the nearest alternative. For Cache Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
