Steady rain over the water today, with a whisper of wind from the S with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Reservoir Kiamika should come off sheltered bays and points. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Within Laurentides, Quebec, you have Reservoir Kiamika. What surrounds it is lake country bush. At 45.05 sq km you are fishing a fraction of it whatever you do. There is roughly 154 km of bank, and each arm behaves like its own water. It is the biggest water on our Laurentides list. The closest town, Ferme-Neuve, is 30 km away. Then Rivière-Rouge, 32 km, and Mont-Laurier, 36 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Our records hold no depth for this water. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Fish Reservoir Kiamika to its features, not to its size.
The year swings from about -15°C in January to roughly 18°C in July. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Reservoir Kiamika runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a reservoir by origin, with the deepest water near the dam. There is a campsite 1.3 km from the water. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Lac Kilby, 3.4 km away. Ask locally about Reservoir Kiamika if anything is unclear.
