Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a light SSW breeze with the barometer flat. Give windblown banks where food collects the first hour at Le Petit Lac. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Le Petit Lac in the Mauricie part of Quebec. The bank gives way to taiga. Small enough that any disturbance crosses the whole surface. Most waters listed here for Mauricie are larger. Weymontachie lies 41 km from the water. The big place round here is Trois-Rivières, 188 km distant. This one is safely inside the county line.
Our records hold no depth for this water. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Le Petit Lac responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Le Petit Lac fishes to that pattern most years.
We hold no note on access for this one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. The nearest alternative is Lac de l'Ours, 0.3 km out. Check the position at Le Petit Lac before loading the car.
