A wet system passing over today, with a proper ripple driven from the NE and no real change in pressure. Activity on Lac Yasinski should centre on bays that hold the day's warmth. The forecast is against you; the night is the least bad option. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Lac Yasinski lies in Nord-du-Québec, in Quebec. The surface lies 129 metres up. At 45.37 sq km you are fishing a fraction of it whatever you do. The shoreline runs to about 105 km, far more than one trip can cover. Size puts it in the front rank of our Nord-du-Québec list. The closest town, Chisasibi, is 104 km distant. Then Waskaganish, 215 km, and Kashechewan, 294 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Reported across Nord-du-Québec: Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. The county list is broader than any single water. Work Lac Yasinski in sections rather than trying to cover it.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 15°C, while January sits near -22°C. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from mid May. Ice usually gives way near mid May, and forms again about mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Anyone fishing Lac Yasinski regularly works to that calendar.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Kamamachisikamach sits 6.6 km off and takes the overflow. Rules at Lac Yasinski are worth checking on the day.
