Dull, settled light over the water, with a light NNE breeze and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Wolfram should come off points where shallow meets deep. The best of it runs night into morning. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Biting air and slow fish: small baits, long pauses.

The Nord-du-Québec end of Quebec holds Lac Wolfram. The ground around here is taiga. At roughly 6 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. It is a small entry by Nord-du-Québec standards. The nearest town is Kuujjuaq, 128 km away. For a city, Saguenay is 967 km off. Not far off: Lac Mamikuskatauch 3.7 km, Lac Natwayasu at 8 km, Lac Kasipwasikan 13 km, Lac de la Moraine at 14 km and Lac Mikumakuch 14 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. The county list is broader than any single water. Lac Wolfram gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
On the long-term average, July reads 12°C and January reads -25°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early June. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early June until roughly late October. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Time your trip to Lac Wolfram by conditions rather than dates.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Mamikuskatauch sits 3.7 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Wolfram for certain.
