Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a light S breeze with the barometer flat. Start the search at Lac Wigwam along points where shallow meets deep. Everything points to the morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Wigwam is one of the Lanaudière waters in Quebec. The ground round it is rolling bush. It measures about 19 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Around 3.1 km of margin, front to back. For supplies, Saint-Jean-de-Matha is 10 km out. Beyond it, Sainte-Béatrix at 11 km and Saint-Gabriel at 19 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Survey and observation records for Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac Wigwam responds to conditions more than to tactics.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 18°C, while January sits near -14°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. On average, late April opens the water and late November closes it again. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Wigwam.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Should this one be busy, Lac Beaudoin is 1.2 km off. What applies at Lac Wigwam may have changed since it was mapped.
